iPhone

Every once in a while there comes a certain technological device that revolutionizes the industry.  This would be true about the iphone.  The iphone was leagues ahead of the competition when it first came out and the competition is still scrambling to try and keep up.  This smartphone brought the world a user-friendly interface, touchscreen ability, and easy internet access.  To think that you could surf the web on your phone or get directions at any point in time was unheard of up until this point.  The iphone brought with it a ton of features and blew us all away.  One of the most intriguing things that the iphone brought to the table was the conception of smartphone apps.

Smartphone apps are small applications that serve either a gaming, functional, business, or educational purpose.  In fact, there are some smartphone apps that appear to have no real use at all, but are at least entertaining.  The majority of the apps for the iphone are gaming apps, and they range from the very simple to the extremely complex.  Depending on the developer, you could get games with stick figures or others with 3d models.  There are word games, puzzle games, action games, racing games, role playing games, and so much more.  Some of the most fun games are the strategy games which require some fast tapping on the screen and some impressive know-how.  Aside from these gaming apps, there are also an assortment of business apps to help with organization and presentation skills.  These business apps are more generally found on the blackberry, but the iphone has its fair share.

The general rule, is that there is pretty much a smartphone app for everything.  You can find apps to read bar codes and give you online prices of that product.  There are iphone apps to help you find any type of restaurant in the city, or ones that give you all of the nearby gas stations and their prices.  These apps are designed to make life easier for you and literally put the world at your fingertips.  If you are an athlete, you can find smartphone apps that calculate how far you have run and at what speeds.  You can also get apps that turn your phone into a leveler, or apps that can listen to music and tell you the artist just from listening to a twenty second clip.

The last thing to know about the iphone and its apps, is where to get them.  On the phone itself there is an icon you can press that will take you to the online store and let you browse through thousands of titles.  Most of the apps are free of charge, but some cost about a dollar to purchase.
